Advertisement for the posts of Constable (Executive) in J&K Police, Home Department

 

The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), vide Indent No. Home PNG/181/2025 (CC-7658871) dated 05.12.2025, has received requisition for 1815 posts of Constable (Executive Police) under Divisional Cadre in the Home Department, Jammu & Kashmir, to be filled through direct recruitment.

Accordingly, JKSSB invites online application forms from eligible candidates for participation in the selection process.

Terms and Conditions

1. Appointment

The appointment and service conditions of selected candidates shall be governed by the existing rules and regulations of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

 

2. Domicile

  • Applicants must be Domiciles of UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • A valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority must be possessed on or before 17.02.2026.

 

3. Vacancies

  • Vacancy details are provided in Annexure-A.
  • Number of posts may increase or decrease during the recruitment process.
  • JKSSB shall not be legally responsible for such variation.
  • Recruitment is subject to the outcome of any writ petition/OA pending before competent courts.

 

4. Age Limit

  • Age shall be calculated as on 01.01.2025.
  • Age limits for Open Merit and Reserved Categories shall be applicable as per government rules.

Every Ex-Servicemen having served in the Armed Forces shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post by more than 3 years, he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.

Candidate should not be born after 01.01.2007.

APPLICATION FEE

a) Fee payable:

  • ₹700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only)
  • In case of candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2 and EWS category, the fee payable shall be ₹600/- (Rupees Six Hundred only).

b) Fee can be paid only through online mode viz. Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

(I) WRITTEN EXAMINATION

a) The examination will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions.
The questions will be set in English language only.

b) There will be negative marking for each wrong answer to the extent of one-fourth (¼) of marks assigned to that question.

c) In terms of S.O. 290 dated 20.08.2021 of Home Department, candidates possessing NCC Certificate shall be awarded bonus marks as under:

  • NCC “C” Certificate – 5% of maximum marks
  • NCC “B” Certificate – 3% of maximum marks
  • NCC “A” Certificate – 2% of maximum marks

 

(II) PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST (PST)

Candidates shall be shortlisted for PST on the basis of written test, which shall be six times the total number of vacancies in each category.

Physical Standards

a) For Males:

  • Height: 5’-6” (minimum)
  • Chest girth: 32” (unexpanded)
  • Chest girth: 33½” (expanded)

b) For Females:

  • Height: 5’-2” (minimum)

Relaxations:

  • Gorkha Community – Height relaxable by 2 inches
  • Bot Tribe – Height relaxable by 2 inches

(III) PHYSICAL ENDURANCE TEST (PET)

Candidates qualifying PST shall undergo PET as follows:

A) Normal Standards

I) For Male candidates

  • Long Race: 1600 meters in 6½ minutes
  • Push-ups: 20 (one complete up and down = one)

II) For Female candidates

  • Long Race: 1000 meters in 6½ minutes
  • Shot put (4 kg): 14½ feet in three attempts

 

B) Relaxed Standards for Ex-Servicemen

C) MEDICAL EXAMINATION

Selected candidates, with reference to vacancies, shall be medically examined to assess their physical and medical fitness.
